Franklin's One Year Old!

Dear friends and family, we have so much to catch you up on! In the last 10 days we've taken our first big road trip with the boys to the Oregon and Northern California Coasts & Redwoods, and to Anderson Valley & Audarya, California! Most importantly, however, we celebrated Franklin's REAL birthday on the road. So first I must catch you up on the wonderful world of the quickly growing-up Frankie G.

Franklin now has six words he uses often and a few others he uses occassionally. He started saying Mama exactly on his first birthday. He says Dada, Mama, Dog, Ball, BaBa (food), Bye Bye and less often, Bruh-Bruh, cracker, and even Gra (ndpa or ndma). It is so handy to be able to ask him if he's hungry, and he says BaBa if he is!

In addition to being a very fast crawler, he has learned to kneel and is just about ready to pull himself up to stand. He took his first assisted steps (being held up by his hands) a week and a half before his first birthday, and now steps like crazy whenever you hold him up that way. While wildly enthusiastic about stepping, he still has some work to do when it comes to equilibrium on his feet!

Franklin has a wide variety of very charming smiles, and his enthusiastic smiles and laughter are always contagious. His favorite games are playing ball, peek-a-boo, chase, and hide and go seek. He also loves to wrestle and splash in the bathtub. His favorite objects include anything that makes a good noise, big-boy toy cars, and long things such as a hose, wire, or broom handle. We stayed one place on our trip that had a broom in the kitchen, and he must have spent hours playing with it.
