Seven weeks old

Amazing how babies can look like old men at this age, receding hairline and and all. Check out this last picture on the brown and blue blanket - its blurry but Franklin looks an awful lot like his brother Theo.

Zoo baby

I took both kids to the zoo all by myself on Sunday morning. I felt like super mom! I really can do this two-kid thing! A stop for a snack for Theo on a bench becomes a nursing and diaper change stop for Franklin! Theo wants to hang out at the ducks and Franklin is hungry? I can nurse here, too! Pouring down rain? No problem, we'll hang out with the sea lions and eat an elephant ear!

Franklin's wearing his super cute hat that a friend from work hand-knitted...though sometimes he wiggled out of it.

Lucy

This site is devoted to our kids, but Lucy was one of our original "kids", so I thought I should give her a shout-out. She recently turned 9! She will always be our perma-puppy. Strangers still compliment us on her youthful good looks regularly. She's infinitely tolerant of the human kids and so protective of our family. Such a good girl!

The Toddler Entertainment Brigade

Theo, and his Mom and Dad got awfully spoiled by having the Pop Gene and Grandma Janet here to lavish attention on Theo. There was painting, stamping, balloon and bubble blowing and park visits galore!

Pop Gene and Grandma Janet meet Frankie G

The proud grandparents of TWO Nelson boys meet the new addition. They were lucky enough to be here when he started smiling!

Changing fast

Franklin is 6 weeks old today and has undergone quite a transformation in just the last two days or so. His face is rounder, he's undoubtedly cuter and his sparkling little personality is starting to bubble through. I mostly mean he has more facial expressions, he still grunts more than anything! You can see it in his face, he's becoming more of a little person. Look at my cutie pie!!!

Six weeks old tomorrow...and smiling?!?!

Suspicious that Franklin may have started smiling on purpose! These were chance shots...but there was a moment today Matt and I both thought...was that on purpose?

Getting bigger...

Holding baby Franklin

Super Dad, Super Baby

Check out Super Dad Matt multi-tasking some "me" time playing video games and caring for Franklin at the same time! Seriously, though, we're proud of Daddy and Franklin because they recently had their very first bottle feeding time while Mom got a haircut, and it went smooth as possible! Our champion eater ate 4 1/2 ounces of breastmilk while I was gone during his very first bottle feeding! Go Frankie G!
By the way, we did a subtraction-method weight check on Franklin a couple of days ago and we're pretty sure he's 12 pounds already!

One month old!

Franklin is one month old already tomorrow and we can't believe how fast the time has flown. He loves to look out windows and hang out on the couch looking at lights. He's got a very strong neck and can hold his head up almost entirely on his own now. He loves to lift his head up while resting on a caregiver's chest on his tummy, and has an amazing way of throwing his entire upper body around when we're holding him upright. He even burped himself that way the other day! We're dying to know how much he weighs...as you can see, he's filling out his three-month outfits already!

Grammy Betsy visits

Grammy Betsy has been visiting with us and has been so helpful with both kids, giving Mom and Dad much needed breaks from attending to the chaos of two kids at once. And she's been helping keep us fed and doing chores, too! Here she is working her magic with baby Franklin. Theo has been thrilled to have so much attention lavished upon him, great stuff for the new big brother as well.

The sweet times

When having two young kids is hard, its very very hard; but when its sweet, it is very, very sweet.
